Brenda Stewart, CDA, TDA
Brenda has been drawing and painting since the age of 7. Though her education and training are in fine art, she is best known for her contribution to the field of Decorative Painting. Through classes and seminars, books and videos, Brenda has shared her knowledge and technique with decorative painters for 26 years.
Brenda received her CDA in 1979. She has been an active member of the Society of Decorative Painters, serving on committees, as board member at large, and as President in 1990-91. She was awarded a TDA at the inception of the program and played an active part in the early ongoing development of the program. Brenda was the recipient of the coveted Silver Palette award in 2006.
Brenda is the author of 18 books and 4 videos . Her recently completed book for North Light, Victorian Decorative Painting with Brenda Stewart, will be released in October of 1999. She has had many projects published in various painting magazines, and has contributed to several multiple artists collection books.
After operating a retail shop and seminar studio in the Baton Rouge Louisiana area for 15 years, Brenda, and her husband Robert moved to Williamsburg in 1999. From there they operate a mail and web site business and a seminar program that includes dates in Williamsburg, Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and on Prince Edward Island, Canada. She teaches extensively throughout the United States and abroad, and they exhibit at major conventions and trade shows in the US and Canada.
In her free time, church activities, grandchildren and antiquing are her major interests.
