This project is painted from a reference photo sent to me by a good friend, Masayo. Her husband, Hiroki does beautiful photography and shares his images with me and others. In the original photo, the rose was surrounded by a dark background and must have had over 100 waterdrops on it. I made the decision to paint it without the dark background and add leaves and buds. Someday, I would like to do the rose again in colored pencil on a dark background.
